Why can’t I search from the address bar?

There are moments when I am rushing to file a story, and suddenly need to quickly verify a fact online. And in those moments of frenzied haste I subconsiously type keywords into the browser address bar and hit <ENTER>. And you know what happens after that…

Yes, I know that search engine toolbars can be integrated into the browser. We are presented with this option while installing freeware (such as the free version of AVG antivirus).

But I’d like to leave you with a thought.

If I can type “define: abstract” in Google and get definitions for “abstract” from several sources on the web—wouldn’t it be great if I could type “S: keywords” in the browser address bar and then search directly from the browser address bar?

Microsoft, Opera, Mozilla—are you listening?
